Overview

Gear Warning Upgrade Kit installed under STC SA02725SE for Piper PA-44-180 (SN 44-7995001 through 44-8195026, 4495001 through 4495013, 4496001 through 4496216)

From operational experience, Absolute Solutions has noted numerous flaws with the factory design which causes operators to often experience:
  • Erratic or intermittent operation
  • Failure of the throttle position actuation system
  • Premature failure of gear horn
  • Increased maintenance and parts cost
  • Increased aircraft down time
The Gear Warning Upgrade will provide operators with a much more reliable way to achieve the same level of safety as the original system was designed to provide.

More durability
Our system incorporates a modern, piezo-electric gear horn with increased durability over the 565-288 horn. In fact, the factory horns are so unreliable, some operators replace multiple horns a year maintaining their PA-44 fleets. At an average cost of $800 a horn, costs quickly add up.

Better accuracy
In addition to a better horn, we replace the throttle position switches with a solid-state relay and two manifold pressure switches. This ensures accurate, repeatable horn operation, as any mechanical slop in the throttle controls has no bearing on switch actuation. The system can be tested and adjusted on the ground, eliminating the need for maintenance check flights.

Easy Installation
To make things easy, all factory wiring is retained. Only minor wiring modification is required.
