skySensor, for certified aircraft, is the final piece for a complete skyBeacon installation. skySensor isn’t just the aesthetic match for your right wingtip, it also includes a dual-band ADS-B receiver, static pressure sensor, and internal GPS. Easily receive traffic and weather via WiFi to GDL90 compatible EFB applications.NOTE: skySensor Experimental has been discontinued and superceded to the skySensor TSO version. Homebuilt and experimental aircraft installations should now order and install the TSO version. |

I have had the SKY-BEACON on my Piper Cherokee PA-28 for several years and have been happy with it. I always wanted to get the complimentary unit for the right wing so I could have the matching strobe and navigation light. However Uavionix has never come out with that unit. So when I learned that I could use this experimental unit in my plane if done as a minor alteration I purchased it and had it installed with a logbook entry and IA sign-off. It had to take my wing tip off because the backing plate for the old incandescent light fixture was frozen but it was not a big deal. The unit mated up with no problem and worked the first time I joined it on wifi with my I-pad. Lights and strobe worked as well. Lee U.
Didn’t fit the tip perfectly on the pa-28 but install otherwise went without a hitch.
Done as a minor alteration with IA, works very well and so much better then the old dull bulb with no strobe.
This CAN be installed on a certified aircraft if done as a minor alteration. Logbook entry and IA signoff. Works great.

The nav light is green. You will have to use your strobe switch to turn on the strobe.
No, do not connect this to any strobe power supply, as this could damage the unit.
Yes it is a FAA TSO Nav and Strobe Light.
The Strobes flashes on the GPS timing so they will flash in sync. However the Strobe trigger wire (yellow) does need to be connected so they can be activated.
This is an ADS-B IN unit only. For ADS-B out compliancy, please see Part# 11-16531.
The intended design and installation is outside of the wingtip replacing the light. Any other installation would be at the discretion of the builder and operator as this is an experimental aircraft unit.
The skybeacon is an ADS-B OUT solution, therefore does not require to be interfaced to foreflight. The skysensor is an ADS-B IN unit that does interface to foreflight among other apps.
NO, this unit is designed to cast the ADS-B signal to a tablet running an aviation app. It does not interface with panel mounted units.
