Wrench-free compression test extender allows for exhaust system and baffling clearance. |
Walked into the Peachtree City Aircraft Spruce today (10/03/2024), and purchased this 12mm compression tester extension for my Rotax 912. After reading the two negative reviews that said this extension did not fit the Rotax 912, I was expecting to have to grind away some of the tool to provide cylinder head clearance. However, the 12mm extension I received had a much smaller diameter than what is shown online and in the catalog. It worked perfectly on all 4 cylinders of my Rotax 912. If you buy one of these for the Rotax 912, be sure to specify that you want one with the narrow diameter (or be prepared to grind! ).
Necessity with most ROTAX engines.

Nice tool, dont forget to order other adapters for aviation plugs
It won’t fit a Rotax 912 engine. The threads are correct, but the tool head is too large and interferes against the spark plug opening. If you try to tighten it the tip will remain wedged in the spark plug opening and you’ll have to extract it with needle nose pliers.
I cannot get this to spin into any of my 12mm Rotax 912iS spark plug holes. I have two engines, it wont work on either of them

Yes, it will work on a Rotax.
o-360's should be 18mm. If you have automotive plugs it would be 14mm.
Yes, it will.
