Reviews

I wanted to ask someone today during the pickup...did not, so I will ask now: I plan to use this for the undercarriage of my SUV. I did a lot of research but just want to know what you think of this. I sometimes power wash the undercarriage (when I think SALT has accumulated) and I wonder what you think about LPS 3 standing up to this...just the ocassional power wash. Or is it better to rinse the undercarriage with a normal hosing?

Been using LPS 3 for almost 10 years. Best rust inhibitor money can buy. And best of all, it really does what is says it can do. Stays on and is not washed away by rain or slush.

Love this stuff. Has many uses from cable lube and protect-ant for my outdoor car hoist to clean and lube my motorcycle chain. Evaporates off and leaves a waxy lube protection.

Seems to be a great product. I’m using it as a rustproofing on my new Silverado. Time will tell the longevity but it applies well and has good even coverage. I have since used it in 3 more vehicles. Hopefully it last through one winter.

Q: Does LPS 3 premier rust inhibitor meet MIL-C-16173 Grade 2?

Yes, it meets MIL-PRF-16173E Grade 2 Class 1. Please see the Approvals tab for additional spec info.

Q: Can LPS 3 be used as primer, directly on rusty surfaces, then painted over?

LPS 3 cannot be used in the manner described. It can be applied to a dry, rusted surfaces that has had any loosely adhered corrosion removed. It will not convert the rust but will halt further corrosion from occurring. It cannot be painted over.

Q: curious if LPS 3 can be a substitute for polishing and waxing my painted Cessna 182 external fuselage if applied frequently (every 2 weeks?). The aircraft lives outside in Hawaiis salty air and hot sun.

I believe it would be safe, but it is brown in color and could stain the paint. I would not recommend it for this application.

Q: Is it safe to spray this inside an aircraft engine cylinder if its going to be parked up for a while?

This product is a common use product, not aviation specific. It does not have a specific approval application guide. You would need to check your engine manual for storage procedures.

Q: Will it transfer to wood when used on woodworking equipment like table saws and interfere with wood finishes?

Per the manufacturer: it is possible that LPS 3 could transfer to other substrates and the petroleum components could affect some finishes.

Q: What is the shelf life of LPS 3?

Shelf life is 1825 days.
