The RAM-B-259U is designed to mount to the lip edge of a flat surface up to 1" thick. Popular mounting edges include a car side window edge lip or glare shield on an airplance. The base has two composite bolts that, when tightened, clamp the base to the lip surface. A RAM 1" diameter rubber ball is connected to the base allowing you to connect a RAM 1" diamter arm socket and connection plates to create the perfect mount for your application. Mount will attach to flat surfaces with the following dimensions: Min: 4.4mm / 0.17" Max: 28.0mm / 1.12" |
The screws securing the mount interfere with the ball. Holes need to be drilled into both sides
RAM Base Glare Shield Mount
Extremely reliable component from a trusted manufacturer.
Very good value and quality for the price. Functions as advertised plus a few places not stated. Excellent purchase.
Seems secure enough, however the rubber plugs for the end of the screws take up half the opening of the mount. Must remove plugs to fit thickness of glare shield, but then screws can damage same.
Product quality is good but clamp depth is too shallow. When screws are tightened they catch only the soft part of the glare shield in my Cessna 172 and does not create a stable platform for my iPad Mini mount.
The opening isnt wide enough for many glare shields such as 172P (which I fly mostly) rendering it useless as others have already pointed-out.
Did not like. Well built but is bulky and did not fit firmly on my RV-8 glareshield ... when I put the mini ipad on it ... it was very shaky. I would have sent back but the cost of shipping and restocking make that not feasible.
