Excellent product. Easy to install. Saved about 3 lbs off the useful load. Incredibly bright. Easy bolt on for 1977 Mooney with sawed off wings. Unsynced they are distracting on night landings, so had a sync wire run.

Per the supplier: The Orion 600 series has a rear position light built into it. The footprint is also different. The Orion 650 is designed to replace our legacy A650 products while the Orion 600 is designed to replace the A600 Series assemblies.

Q: Is the 600 TSOd on certified aircraft? I have a 650 legacy style on a 2004 American/Bellanca Scout. Or will I need to use the 650 Orion?

Q: Will installing these on my certified aircraft allow the removal of the old rotating beacon on the belly of the airplane?

Per Whelen: Per Vendor: That question is for the FAA. We cannot answer questions of legality as they do not involve Whelen Engineering.

Conceptually the answer is yes, the OR600 meets all the position and anti-collision light requirements. However, the FAA may feel differently that must be consulted on these matters.

Q: Is the Orion 600 series strobe a quick flicker or an on / off style?

The strobe is ON/OFF

Q: Can the Orion 600 series strobes be operated by one switch and the navs from another or do both run off one switch?
