Built-in GPS and Bluetooth® have redefined navigation in the A25N. Design flight plans with an Android™ or iOS™ device and import them into the A25 with the Bluetooth® feature. While using GPS, the waypoint NAV will guide pilots to their destination. Up to 10 flight plans and 300 waypoints can be stored in the A25. Other navigational features, like VOR indicators, can help keep a pilot’s heading precise and alert them if they divert from course. All these functions and more increase safety up in the air.

VOR navigation functions
  • CDI (Course Deviation Indicator) looks like a real VOR instrument and displays any deviation from your course.
  • OBS (Omni Bearing Selector) enables you to change course from your original flight plan.

Reviews

A little complicated to operate but not unmanageable. A bit of learning curve like all new electronics. At least it has some dials and buttons. A few too many extra features for my liking but it works great

AA battery pack was missing .i specifically asked if it had one. So frustrating when you need a radio and the battery is low, at least with AA battery pack you can have a solid charge in minutes.

I bought the A25N which is a Nav/Com, although I really didnt need it. Th A25 is more user friendly then the older A24 or A6, with programming and general use. Controls do what you expect them to do, which I cant say for the A24/A6. The next few comments is the only reason why I didnt give it a 5-star. The mic placement is down towards the bottom, in an odd place. The headset jack is a modified version of the one they used on the A24/A6, which the adapter has to be trimmed down to fit in the jack completely. The bluetooth feature is only used for the GPS, it would have been nice if it could have been used for programming and updating the software.

Q: How much does the Icom A25N radio cost?

The price for the product will display when you select which voltage you need from the drop down menu. It is offered in both 110v and 220v versions for use in different countries. North America is 110v, many other countries require 220v for the charger.

Q: Does the Icom A25 series radio have dual watch functionality?

Yes it does.

Q: Does the Icom A25N VHF Air Band radio have glideslope and localizer capabilities?

No, it does not have ILS / LOC features. It is only VOR NAV capable.

Q: Can the Icom A25N Bluetooth be used to connect the A25Ns GPS to a tablet or Nav device?

No, the GPS signal is receive only on the Icom A25N radio. It will not display a moving map or send the signal to another device. It is used for position data so that the radio can display and tune to nearby frequencies and NAV points. The Bluetooth feature is audio only.

Q: Can this Icom A25N radio be permanently plugged into aircraft power and transmit and receive, or does the battery pack have to be removed for this to work? Ive had issues with older versions that will not work if under permanent aircraft power.

This unit is not designed to be permanently powered by aircraft power. Using the optional CP-20 cigarette lighter adapter, the unit can be powered by a 14 or 28-volt DC system by simply plugging it into the jack.

Q: Does the headset adapter included with the Icom A25N radio have a Push To Talk function?

No, the headset adapter has an input port for the addition of a push to talk switch. You will need to order part # 11-09131 separately to add push to talk to this radio.

Q: Will the headset adapter and push to talk button that I have for my current icom A6 work with this Icom A25N radio?

No. The headset adapter will not work, but the PTT will work with the headset adapter that comes with the A25.

Q: 1. I read you can Bluetooth two headsets to it at once is this true? 2. If you can connect two headsets to it can the unit be used as a intercom between the two headsets or would you need a separate intercom unit?

The manufacturer user manual only references one headset being connected via Bluetooth. With that said, you would need an intercom to connect two separate headsets.

Q: Can the Icom A25N radio be used while plugged into the 110v charger?

No, per Icom, using it while charging can damage the unit.

Q: Does Icom make a mic for the A25N?

Yes, Icom makes a mic for the A25N, see part # 11-15470.
