Works great. Way better that the other two piece setup. Love that it has a bar to tell me how far the tube gets inserted.

A great tool to create flairs with. The guide for setting the tube, and burnishing give excellent results. No cracked flairs. Only disadvantage is its a little heavy.

Excellent result from flaring a #6 tube. You need to lube ALL threads and hinge points before use though. When it first arrived, it was difficult to move most all of the moving parts. They must not have lube oil in Mexico...

A very well made flaring tool seen throughout the aviation community. The tube depth stop takes the guess work out of tube placement. Used as directed, it made nice looking, perfect fitting, no leak flares for me right out of the box.

This is a great tool . Much better than another highly rated equally expensive flaring tool that Ive been struggling with . It doesnt leave any grooves in the tubing or sharp marks where the flare begins . I figured Id have to practice a few times to get a good flare, but after two flares I figured I didnt need to practice any more tools that easy to use .

Works flawlessly.
Some recommendations:
1. Measure twice, cut once. Aluminum tubes will not magically grow back like a lizzard's tail.
2. Read the tool's instructions. ALWAYS clean and lubricate cone and holding clamps after each flare.
3. Practice flaring on scrap aluminum tubing. Then practice some more. And again.
4. Do not overtighten the butterfly-type nut. Thumb-and-index slight pressure is all that is required. Probably even less. Practice some more to see the different outcomes with different clamping pressure. If you overtighten this nut and screw, you will end up with an unperfect, out-of-round flare at the neck. If you undertighten it, the flaring cone will push the aluminum tube down the clamps (specially if you lubricated it forehand).
5. Happy flaring!

Do NOT use this to flare any kind of tubing harder than soft copper or aluminum. You will tear up the male cone that forms the inside of the flare. Once you do that, it will be useless for flaring any kind of tubing because it will leave grooves inside the flare.

Tool itself is 5-star. Reason for the 4-star rating is the instructions. Ive never used a tool like this before, and the crumpled instruction sheet was a xerox of a xerox of a xerox of a xerox. Youd think that for $140 (shipping, tax) they would include a legible instruction sheet. Makes me wonder about the overall quality in the long run.

Very good flaring tool. Using for soft alum tubing 1/4 and 3/8 OD while building Vans RV14A. Creates consistent flares with burnished finish.

This is (in my opinion) one of the best flaring tools you can buy. I prefer it over other style tools, because of the rotating gauge that sets your tube position in relation to the flare and cone, eliminating a lot of guesswork and frustration. Since the gauge is incorporated into the mechanism for tightening the yoke, it only requires two hands to clamp and flare a tube, instead of three! That said, I removed a star because like many of the reviews, there is a tendency for the tool to leave a mark when flaring 1/4 tube. The recommendation to remove the edge is well-advised, and I think likely a workmanship issue that I did not notice on previous models. I had one that I had purchased through Spruce almost 15 years ago which did not seem to leave a tool mark and while I dont know for certain where that one was manufactured, (I left it behind in a move home from an overseas assignment) this one came in a box marked Aprobado, Hannifin De Mexico, which tells you all you need to know. Still, I would recommend this, as it saves a lot of stress, and is still the best option out there, in my opinion.

Thumb screw was very difficult to turn. Had to use pliers to turn it. Even after running thumb screw up and down threads with lubrication it did not turn without pliers. I ended up running a tap through the thumb screw threads that cleaned out a lot of stuff from them. Works great now. Would have given it a 5 star rating if not for that issue.

Jaws leave a raised portion of metal after flair at each joint. Collar will not fit properly to flair with these tabs. NOT for use on aircraft plumbing. Second unit to exhibit this issue. JUNK!
