Was a direct drop-in replacement for my old Narco mono-pole antenna with quick, easy installation. Bonus is supporting a local USA company (RAMI is here in Michigan). Have yet to fly with it so no pirep on performance. Delivery via USPS was as quick as can be expected, especially during Covid slow downs.

Q: Is the RAMI AV-22 certified?

Yes, the AV-22 is certified (TSO'd).

Q: What is the difference between the AV-22 antenna and the blade type AV-74?

The AV-22 is your standard transponder antenna where the AV-74 is intended for transponder or DME application with a higher speed rating of up to 350 mph and altitudes up to 50,000 feet.

Q: What is the difference between AV-22 ans 11-17970? Would the performance be similar?

Both antennas are similar in construction and performance wise.

Q: What is the thickness of aircraft skin acceptable with the AV-22 antenna?

The AV-22 installation manual does not specify the mounting location thickness. It has a drag force of 0.41 lbs @ 250 mph. Please refer to the AC 43.13 part number 13-06923 for acceptable mounting procedures.

Q: Is this RAMI AV-22 antennae compatible for the Garmin GDL 82 ADS B unit?

No, this antenna is not recommended for use with the Garmin GDL 82. They recommend the blade style antennas.

Q: Is the RAMI AV-22 compatible with the Garmin GTX-335? Looks much better than the big, white, and expensive Garmin GA-35 antenna.

This antenna does meet the requirements per the GTX installation manual. However, if you are interested in the GTX335 with GPS you will still require the GA35 as that is a WAAS GPS antenna. The AV-22 and the GA35 are not the same antenna.

Q: Is the AV-22 compatible with the Appareo Stratus Transponders?

Per the installation manual, Appareo only recommend one antenna. The AV-74 11-05846.

Q: Which RG cable should be used with this RAMI AV-22 antenna?

Depending on the application, RG400 and RG142 are great cable for any installation.

The manual for the Appareo ESG transponder recommends using the AV-74 (p/n: 11-05846)

Q: Will this RAMI AV22 work with the Garmin GTX345? Neither it nor the CI-101 (which it says its a direct replacement for) are in Table 3-7 Acceptable UAT/1090 Antennas from the Garmin install manual.

You must use the antennas that are listed as a compatible antenna. The CI-105 is listed and will work. 11-17965.
