Overview

Navigate with Garmin caliber GPS data on the mobile device of your choice. The GLO 2 receiver brings you the best of both worlds by combining GPS and GLONASS receivers with Bluetooth® wireless technology so you can enjoy precise position information on your iPad®, iPhone® or Android™ device.

The Accuracy of GPS and GLONASS

GLO 2 can receive position information from both the GPS and GLONASS satellite constellations, allowing it to connect to up to 24 more satellites than devices that rely on GPS alone. This allows GLO 2 to lock on to satellites approximately 20% faster and remain connected even at high speed. What’s more, GLO 2 updates its position information at 10 times per second; that’s up to 10 times more often than the GPS receivers in many mobile devices.

Set It up and Go

Using Bluetooth technology, the GLO 2 receiver wirelessly pairs to your mobile device. Just set GLO 2 within range of your mobile device, and in moments, you’ll be receiving the GLO 2 receiver’s position data. It has up to 13 hours of battery life to keep your position on long trips, and charging GLO 2 between uses is easy with the included USB cable or optional 12/24 V vehicle power cable. The optional friction mount keeps the receiver safe on your dashboard and in full view of satellites.

6-Month Garmin Pilot™ Subscription

Select the bundle to turn your iPad or iPhone into the ideal cockpit companion. A 6-month subscription to the Garmin Pilot app puts full-featured navigation — including our decades of experience with rich, interactive mapping, 3D Vision, aviation weather, global flight plan filing, electronic flight bag capabilities, optional traffic/weather, pilot logbook and more — right at your fingertips.

So far so good only one flight. Very compact and links easily with your iPad. Happy that i purchased it alone with the dash mount holder.

So far, this device works well during flights, appears to be accurate in comparison with the panel mounted gpss. I use Garmin pilot on a Samsung S7 tablet. For android devices like Samsungs I had to the get the app Bluetooth GNSS and had to go it the developer mode of the device to change the gps from internal to a connected device. To use the Bluetooth GPS, you must connect through the GNSS app each time. It has worked flawlessly so far.

A friend is using this for airline flying. Modern 777 cockpit does not allow ipads to display position. Has flown with the Bad Elf and experienced spotty connection issues. This thing is rock solid for up to 4 crewmembers to connect to and even indicates upstairs in the rest area. 13 hour battery almost does an atlantic round trip from the states, and will do any destination one way. It is a huge safety necessity during taxi and a nice addition in all phases of flight. 5 stars for the glo 2

Great product ..I used it for my trip from Vancouver to Tokyo on a 787. After using it for 10.5 hrs I still had 34% Battery left. The Garmin glo 2 also was picking up Russian satellites

Q: How can I connect the Garmin Glo with a Garmin 696 or newer?

The 696 has it's own internal gps receiver. The Glo is designed to provide GPS data to an ipad, iphone, or android device.

Q: What is the difference between the GLO 2 and the GLO for aviation?

The upgrades are in battery life which is now up to 13 hours, the speed in which it locks onto satellites which is 20% faster, and an included 6-month subscription to Garmin Pilot app.

Q: How is the GLO 2 different than the previous product? My older Garmin GLO has difficulty when placed in a sunlit cockpit. An hour or so would lead to a shutoff and required a reboot in cooler conditions. Hence my GLO is in pile of not so great airplane acquisitions.

The battery life has been extended by an hour and the subscription to Garmin Pilot is included.

Q: I have aN iPhone 4, will this Garmin Glo 2 work with it?

Yes, this will provide GPS signal to an iOS device using a Bluetooth connection.

Q: Will this Garmin Glo 2 device be compatible with EFBs such as FltPlan Go?

Yes, this will provide GPS signal to any app requiring one.

Q: Will this Garmin Glo 2 allow me to use all features in Garmin Pilot including showing traffic as well as my position while flying?

No, this provides GPS signal only. For traffic information, you will need an ADS-B unit like the GDL 50 or GDL 52.
