Overview

G/flex 650 is a bit more flexible than standard epoxies and polyester, but much stiffer than adhesive sealants. This gives G/flex 650 the ability to make structural bonds that can absorb the stress of expansion, contraction, shock, and vibration. It is ideal for bonding dissimilar materials.

It can be modified with West System fillers and additives and used to wet-out fiberglass tapes and fabrics. Mixed at a 1:1 ratio, G/flex 650 gives you 45 minutes of working time at 72°F. It reaches an initial cure in 7 to 10 hours and full cure in 24 hours. 650 G/flex Resins should be paired with comparable size 650 G/flex Hardeners. Includes 4 ounces of resin and 4 ounces of hardener.

West System G/Flex Epoxy 650-8

Have used this for bonding steel, aluminum, carbon fiber, etc. Always following west recommendations--especially for aluminum-- and it has never disappointed. Will harden in surprisingly cold ambient temperatures, as well.

Q: Will this create a stong yet flexable bond with 2024T-3 aluminum? Regarding Part # 01-01162

Yes, this will create a strong, flexible bond with 2024T-3 aluminum.

Q: Will peel ply work with this like regular resin applications for fiberglass?

Yes. The key is to apply the peel ply when the adhesive is still wet, and as long as the peel ply is wetted out, he can peel off the peel ply when cured and it will have the same texture as a laminating resin system.

Q: Can this be used to repair fiberglass struts for model airplanes using fiberglass cloth? I need something with thin coat and can be applied with a brush having a thin layer effect.

We believe this would work for that application. It should brush on but it is a little thicker.

Q: Is this epoxy FAA approved? Any documents in FAA approval?

No, This epoxy does not have and FAA approval. We can provide certs and MSDS sheets
