Q&A

Please note, Aircraft Spruce Canada's personnel are not certified aircraft mechanics and can only provide general support and ideas, which should not be relied upon or implemented in lieu of consulting an A&P or other qualified technician. Aircraft Spruce Canada assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Any product eligibility information provided here is based on general application guides and we recommend always referring to your specific aircraft parts manual, the parts manufacturer or consulting with a qualified mechanic.

Q: What items come in the box with the AeroLEDs Pulsar NSP Strobe? Are any extra parts required such as mounting kits, special wiring harness connectors, etc?

The box will include the following:

  • A right and left navigation, strobe and position light
  • Two mount brackets
  • Two set screws
  • Two Molex connector kits
  • White envelope with a CofC listing the TSO number and the serial numbers for each light
We also have an optional wiring harness that can be purchased with the lights.

Q: Do these AeroLED Pulsar lights have both the red/green tip lights and also the flashing strobe lights included? If so what else do I need to buy to make this work with my 12V airplane? On my last trip the left side tip assembly (that I cludesboth the red light and the flashing strobe light) tore off in the wind. It was the original incandescent based one and I want to replace with a new modern fancy LED based system. I just dont know what to buy.

These lights when ordering the pair will include one green and one red and both will contain an Anti-collision strobe. Please refer to the installation manual in the 'Documents' tab for proper installation.

Q: Are these AeroLED Pulsar lights self contained for strobe or require separate power source?

They require power from the aircraft but they would not require a power supply like a non LED strobe.

Q: Where are the AeroLED lights made and do they have replaceable lenses?

They are made in the USA. This set of lights does not have replaceable lenses.

Q: What is the pulse pattern of the AeroLEDs Pulsar NSP lights? on/off or on-on-on-pause?

The Pulsar NSP units have a single flash pattern. The dwell time for the flash is 0.190 Seconds, the off time is 1.27 Seconds and the total period is 1.46 seconds. The light has a 13% duty cycle.

Q: Will these AeroLEDs Pulsar strobes interfere with magnetometer? If yes how far abound the magnetometer be from these strobes?

PER AEROLEDS: We recommend that the customer maintain an 11 distance between the magnetometer and our lights per D0160 environmental tests requirements. We also recommend that they maintain a physical separation of the wire on the back of our lights and the wire that is connected to their magnetometer.

Q: Do I need a separate switch for the strobe or can it be connected to the same navigation light circuit?

The wiring diagram recommends a separate breaker for the nav and strobe wiring. You could wire them to the same switch as long as they are on separate breakers.

Q: Can these AeroLEDs Pulsar NSP Strobe Lights TSO For Certified Aircraft be installed on certified aircraft?

Yes, these are FAA TSO approved for installation on certified aircraft.

Q: I have the standard red and green led navigation lights. Would I have to run extra wiring for the strobe? Or could I just use the existing wires?

You would need a ground, and three power wires for the nav, strobe and rear lights.

Q: Can the Nav and Position power be combined on the same circuit?

No, the installation instructions show them attaching to separate breakers.
