The iFDR Power 250-201 is remote mounted Dual USB-A power / charging unit designed to mount behind the instrument panel and provide reliable power for up to two iPad/iPhone docks or any two components with USB charge capabilities. The iFDR Power 250-201 simultaneously provides 2.1 amps at 5 VDC ± 0.25 (10 watt) for each USB connection. Power input and output is hard wired into the 15-pin connector and can accept 9-48 VDC aircraft power and will convert down to 5 VDC. The iFDR Power 250-201 is a smart USB charger and features a feedback loop to keep the 2.1 amp current stable at all times. The units are EMI shielded and also feature reverse polarity protection. Excellent little unit uses smart charger technology so that iPads, iPhones and similar devices will charge at rated current from the unit (up to 2.1A from each port). Installed in my aircraft by mechanic with logbook entry as per FAA standards. Use care when wiring the supplied 25-pin DIN connector. Only downside is the vendor did NOT supply the appropriate DIN strain-relief (plastic hood): had to supply my own.
