Swift Oil Temperature Sender 1/8" Pipe Type. Similar to Falcon Gauge Made in China |
So far after programing my MGL gauge the sender that was a lot cheaper than others seems to be working right. I have not ran the engine yet
I bought the temperature sender as a spare. I have an identical one in the plane. The one I have now works fine after I removed the canopy, removed the glareshield, and reversed the wires. I wanted to be ready to change out senders, if necessary, after doing all this work. I would give the Swift products a 5 star rating except for the following: 1. The companys main weakness is in the instructions sent with the products and consistency of manufacturing. 2. In the case of the temperature sender the white wire is the ground wire, and the black wire is the wire that goes to the gauge (at least in this particular sender). Normal aircraft practice is that black is ground. In any event, if instructions indicated which wire is ground and which is signal (they dont), there would be no confusion. 3. In line 5 of the 5 line instructions for the dual gauge (oil temp and oil press.) it says: If no signal, reverse the wires. Since there are five wires coming to this gauge that could cause a lot of confusion and destroyed components. Since I have an electrical background I avoided the potential problem.
