Mil Spec qualified Spring-Fast is the fastest, safest, most reliable way to protect wires, cables, and tubing from abrasion. It locks on with finger pressure in seconds, eliminating solvents, adhesives, ancillary materials and volatile organic compound (VOCs). Installs continuously and is very flexible for use on straight edges and sharp inside and outside corners. Spring-Fast® Composite Grommet Edging covers sharp edges of panels that come in contact with wite and cables and mechanically lock on indefinitely with finger pressure in only seconds per foot. They provide a significant time reduction in assemblies. A long-term reliability solution that replaces nylon caterpillar plastic grommets and associated solvents, adhesives, and ancillary materials to protect critical equipment from failure due to wire chaffing. Spring-Fast® Grommet Edging is approved by the FAA and U.S. Department of Defense per NASM 22529/a and NASM 22529/2 for all aircraft applications. Meets FAR 25.853 for flammability and MIL 1344 for shock and vibration. Spring-Fast® is available for 8 different sheet thickness ranges from 0.025 to 0.260 and can be purchased in either 10 piece packs of 12.75" long pieces, or by the foot. Use Spring-Fast® BAP and SL series for flanged lightning hole and three-axis contours. The BAP Series Flexi-Grommet is perfect for roll formed edges and small lightening holes. Where wires are routed in the same plain as the sheet metal, the Spring-Fast® SL Series provides a trim characteristic for all edges with or without cabling nearby. Spring-Fast® is used in a wide variety of aviation and aerospace applications: • Lightening Holes • Wing Sections • Seating • Intercostals • Fuselage • Avionics • Bulkheads • Air Traffic Control • Racks • Tail Sections • Tactical Satellite Emulators • Ferrules • Navigation Systems • Electrical Power Centers • Ground Control • EAU (Electrical Avionic Units) • PSU (Personal Safety Units) • APU (Auxiliary Power Units) • IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) |
Worked great!
I installed this on my wood chippers sheet metal engine housing. To line the through hole to prevent chaffing on the air filter housing tube. Took less than 10 min without disassembly. It rides the edge with minimal clearance and stays in place nicely.
Great product! Perfect for lightening holes to prevent chaffing of hoses and wiring that passes through.
Excellent product. Works as advertised. Will purchase additional material in appropriate sizes.
Used the edging during ADS-B OUT upgrade. It was very easy to use and installs without any difficulties. I am now reassured that my planes wiring used in this upgrade is protected from being cut or scraped as it goes through the planes metal panels. I will use this product for any further maintenance work or upgrades.
Ive used the M22529/2 for the better part of nine years - finally someone got it right replacing the older glued nylon MS21266. No more pli-o-bond, no more acetone or MEK, clean and simple to use. Ive static loaded it to 20G - very impressive and use a smear of RTV if the seam gap is greater then 1/32
Very high quality item with super fast shipping.
I love it when a product works exactly as advertised. It is easy to cut into the lengths you need with a simple pair of side cutters. I used my grommet edging to line the lightening holes in my wings to prevent chafing of wiring harnesses. It installs very easily by just pushing it down onto the edge, and is secure enough that it will not move again, yet not so secure that you cant move or remove it if you have to. Its a bit pricey, but it does exactly what I wanted and is one of the few things about my project that was easy to install.
I used this to prevent chafing of wires in landing gear wells where wires run close to ribs and bulkheads. Works perfect and I put a little adhesive to make sure it stays put.
THe product was great. The customer service was even greater. John Cash is a great person to deal with at Aircraft Spruce. Thank you very much. Will definately do business with you again.

This is the thickness of the material you are putting the grommet edging on.
"R" means the material is cut from a reel/roll.
