I’m not sure I am altogether convinced this was a value. First, the kit is as-described with sandpaper, a few rags, a foam block, instructions and a bottle of micro mesh polish. I was glad to find instructions were like “polishing for the challenged” as they describe basic wet sanding and have you work to to bottom and left to right to counter scratches. I’m a pilot and a dumb guy. My wife reminds me of the dumb guy last all the time! I need everything explained in great detail so I can’t screw it up! That makes this kit awesome in the “providing the needed direction” category. Result? The windshield is better after using however, I had a lot of newer, smaller scratches I have to figure out. This is after a few hours of working both sides with paper and micro mesh cream on a 172. The real issue is likely “non mechanical owner given sandpaper”. After working with the paper and the micro mesh cream, I was still less than pleased with the result and did not feel I had a serviceable windshield. I tried Mcguire’s PlastiX (last desperate move). This got me to the point where I found the windshield went from bad to tolerable. As it doesn’t have a picture of an airplane on the bottle and didn’t cost $50, it’s not recommended… but next time around I’ll probably grab my water spray bottle, get $10 in sandpaper from Amazon, pull that $8 bottle of PlastX of the shelf and go again. Three stars - quality of what’s in the box is good and the instructions are on-time. Little scratches are a “me thing”. Not sold on the stuff that smells like sun tan lotion (micro mesh). Held the last two stars as I am willing to bet I can get better results at one-third of the cost.

I bought this to renew my 3x4 ft large half round canopy and not only was it a lot of elbow grease but in the end it didnt turn out good. Guess it needs more elbow grease than I have in my so all around not my favorite. Next step? Maybe consult a pro detailer because it has now more small scratches than before :-(

Its great to do spot work on big scratches but you dont want to do your entire canopy. Way tooooo much work and it wont be restored to new. I would try using the micro polish first to see what it removes and then go from there. If you do want to try, do a 2 - 3 sf area in your worse area, but dont do the entire or even half the canopy or you will regret it. Remember the initial area is small and as you move up in grit, the area will become larger.
