Overview

The Plug & Jump is a very portable unit which can be carried in the aircraft at all times because it is so lightweight. It can be used to start the aircraft from an ordinary car using standard jumper cables. It comes in two models; The Universal Model is used for Cessna, Beechcraft, etc. (3 pin plug) and the Piper Model is a single pin. The Plug and Jump is a simple conduit of power from any external power source to the aircraft. It is not a battery in and of itself. The Plug n Jump can be used for either 28V or 14V systems.

These power plugs are a valuable addition to an aircrafts on-board inventory. They make trickle-charge maintenance of a battery easy, and provide options in the event of a battery failure away from home. High quality and smart design.

Have to say that 1st impression was the excessive weight of the Plug & Jump Universal fitting. Put it on the scales and it weighed 1.2kgs (2.6 lbs). Too heavy to carry around in our Tecnam P2008 so I decided to make my own Jump Start Lead. By the time It was shipped to me at Australia & converted from $USD to $A the cost was over A$200. However Aircraft Spruce were excellent to deal with. Regards, Boyd Tiver Australia

Good product. Very useful. Is a little tight on the fit - must really ensure that it is seated properly when inserting it.

Excellent product. We use it to power up avionics using the electric tug and jumper cables, to save running the batteries down.

Q: Does the universal plug n jump # 11-00971 connect to the exterior 12 volt connection on the left side of my Cessna? Can I connect a battery tender to the plug n jump?

The Plug N Jump, 11-00971, has a Cessna type plug that goes into a standard 3-pin power receptacle. A BatteryMinder, not a Battery Tender, is recommended to use on aircraft batteries, and is recommended to be used on the battery. If it is a sealed battery, it can be used with the battery in the aircraft, but if you have a wet battery, it should be taken out of the aircraft to be charged or maintained.

Q: Will this Universal Plug N Jump work with a Cirrus? Part # 11-00971

Per the supplier: Yes, it should work fine. The Cirrus has the 3-pin plug that this uses.

Q: My Cessna 172M has power receptacle part number AN2552-3A with 2 pins...can I use the lightweight portable jump connection 11-00971?

Per the supplier: Yes, it should work fine on a 172. We advise that you look inside the port all the way. There should be a short third pin called the solenoid pin that would make it a three pin receptacle.

Q: The negative terminal is spinning and rotating, is this normal?

Yes, this is normal. The negative post is loose and will have swivel effect.

Q: Will I be able to use the plug using a 12V car battery to jump start my C182 24V system?

No, a 12volt source can not jump a 24V system. You can use this unit for either 12 or 24 volt aircraft's, but the power source voltage needs to be the same as the aircraft.

Q: What are the approximate dimensions and weight of the Plug N Jump Universal?

The approximate dimensions are 11" Length x 3" Width x 2" thickness. Weight is roughly 1.6 lbs.

Q: Can I plug tthis Plug & Jump Universal into a cirrus and attach the charger to charge the battery?

This product can be used for a Cirrus. However, it is not meant to be used for charging the battery from a charger. It is meant for a jump start from a car battery.

Q: What is the weight of the Plug & Jump?

1.66 lbs.

Q: I'm assuming this item will work with most aircraft, including a Mooney M20?

Yes, the plug and jump will work with most GA aircraft including Mooneys. Piper aircraft models will require part # 11-00972.

Q: Will a jump box start a 12 volt Cessna 172k? My system is a 12 volt system .

This is the jump plug that connects into the aircraft. The terminals are intended to be connected to a standard jumper cord to help start an aircraft.
