Does exactly what it’s supposed too. Saved me hundreds on buying cables I didn’t need since I could identify the one bad wire.

I have a mobile aircraft service van and I bought the E5a High Voltage cable tester. Was in my vehicle’s toolbox for ma ny months. The first time I tried to use it did not work. I can hear loose parts inside the unit. After opening it I found the plastic, holding the contact points came off. I put it back and I noticed the 2Amp fuse was blown do to the points not being in place. Could the vibration from my van got those screws loose or were no properly secure in the first place.

Q: Where can I find a copy of the user manual and insructions sheet for the E5 High Voltage Cable Tester?

We have just added the instructions as a PDF on this web page. It is now located in the "Documents" tab and available for download.

Q: Can I hook this High Voltage Cable Tester E5 up to a external battery and ground the (-) side of the battery to the engine if using on a non-power aircraft? Cub, Champ etc.

The power source does not have to be the aircraft battery. 12/24 volts are required to test, but it can be from an alternate power source.
