This heavy-duty rotary cutter is designed to quickly and easily shear aluminum rivets. Just insert the rivet into the correct sized hole and set to desired length; adjustable for 1/4" to 3/4" long rivets in 1/16" increments. Cuts diameters of 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", 7/32", and 1/4". |
Works great! I just buy the longer rivets and trim them to the size I need. The depth gauge makes repeatable cuts super easy.
Economy Heavy Duty Rivet Cutter
awfully expensive for what the product is
Economy Heavy Duty Rivet Cutter
Excellent tool. Cuts rivets cleanly with minimal force.
Economy Heavy Duty Rivet Cutter
Looks like a quality tool. Have not used it on larger rivets but works well on 1/8 rivets.
I have only used it to cut number 4 rivets and found it to perform very good. The cut is smooth and square and no problem inserting the rivet in the sheet metal - not deformation. Would recommend this tool to any one.
This tends to bend AD4 rivets so that longer rivets must be pounded into the hole with a bucking bar or some such before driving, but most go in acceptably. Also, it doesnt have a way to shim in 1/32 for cutting to half lengths such as 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5 so I must manually place another home made shim in to cut to half sizes. I often find that these half size rivets are much closer to the perfect size and so it is worth the weight savings and the greater rate of success with squeezing and bucking to use them. Unfortunately Aircraft Spruce only sells some half size rivets and other places sell by the pound so manually cutting rivets when you dont need a 1000 or more means way less inventory. No idea if the cheaper Aircraft Tool Supply 130 Rivet Cutter with 1/32 shims would be easier to use but worth considering.
good for cutting #3 rivets only, it only has enough travel to cut half way through a #5 rivet. Then you need to grind, file or trim the other chunk of rivet off for a square end to make a shop head. not happy
