MC600 Series Universal Solid Wire Vernier Mixture Control Minor alteration (requires logbook entry only). FAA-PMA approved for many Cessna, Piper, Mooney, Maule and Stinson aircraft. The MC600 series mixture controls require a 3/4 inch instrument panel hole. Most aircraft have a 1/2 inch hole from the factory that must be enlarged before installation of an MC600 series mixture control.

Mixture Control Solid Wire MC600-72
Perfect fit on my Cessna 150L after trimming to match old one. Makes a huge difference over the old stock non-vernier one. Now I can lean with some precision.
Mixture Control Solid Wire MC600-72
Perfect fit on my C150. Make sure you get some Clamps to secure the cable, other than that was fairly easy to install took about 2 hours. Looks factory and now I can finally fine tune my leaning.

This is a very nice unit! Compared to the wimpy, cheapo control that Piper installed, it looks huge, like a pineapple, but once youve installed it, it doesnt seem that big, and it has great action. I installed this in a PA-22, just to the right of the throttle, which was replaced with a MCVA455-139 unit. The original cable routing, with two 90* bends wont work, so the cable arcs under the control column to its hole in the firewall. Youll have to cut one meter off the end of the Bowden cable: be sure to pull the control knob back about four inches before you cut it with a thin cut off wheel in a Dremel tool. Verify the hole in the mixture arm pivot shaft will accommodate the inner shafts diameter. Youll also have to use a drift to spread open the Bowden cable mount bracket, attached to the engine mount, a couple inches ahead of the firewall (have fun working around the cabin heat box). The chain on the control column rubs the cable with the wheels full aft, so I slit a 6 length of 3/8 soft aluminum tube and put it over the Bowden cable where the chain rubs and crimped it in place. Add inspecting this rub strip, annually, to your ICA and youre all set. Other than that, and using a step drill to bore out that gaping, 3/4diameter mounting hole in the instrument panel, its pretty straight forward. Its a bit awkward tightening the 3/4 nut behind the instrument panel, but just keep wiggling the control while tightening the nut and it will snug up securely. Every pilot who flies the old dame will appreciate it.

This is listed as working on a stinson 108. With enough work I guess you could make it work. It is much larger then the original stinson control. The part behind the control extends about 6 5/8 inch where it touches structure. The cable housing itself is larger in diameter. The housing does not fit a support bracket on the stinson. Aesthetically it is a very poor match to the stinson panel.
