Reviews

Years ago I flew a C-140 with two Vista Vents and reallly liked them. So, Ive installed four of them for ventelation in my Experimental build but not yet flown. The install involves drilling plexiglas. No problem when using a drill bit made for Plexi with minute pressure. One of my four vents had a manufacturing flaw that Spruce swapped out. Im real happy with how they look and the ease of the installation. I like simple, and this is simple and effective ventelaiton.

These window ventilators are great and work amazing. What bothers me is that they dont have rust proof hardware and they do rust

Not up to standards for quality and functionality. The look of them is not what I was hoping they would be. There is some cracking on them. The functionality of them are less than ideal as well due to the fact that they dont seal down and stop air from coming in when you dont want it. I opted to not even put them on my plane due to the disappointment of the product.

Q: Can this cabin window ventilator be mounted in a certified airplane, or is it only meant for experimental? Is there any chance that you could add a picture of two from different angles?

No, this is intended for experimental aircraft use only. We have also added photos with additional angles to the web page.

Q: What size hole does this cabin window ventilator fit?

This will fit in a 2-1/2" hole.

Q: What is the total outside diameter of the cabin window ventilator, part # 05-08078?

Smaller inside ring is oblong, 2-1/4" to 2-1/2". Outside larger ring is 3-1/2".

Q: Can Part # 05-08078 be rotated to point in any direction, i.e. to scoop air in or vent air out? Or is it designed to just point forward and scoop air in. How well does it seal when closed?

It is designed to scoop air in, and seals well.

Q: What are the measurements between screw holes?

This measures to 2.1" across and 3" diagonally.

Q: Is the vent tinted in colour as it looks like in the picture?

No, it is clear. It looks tinted because it is photographed on top of a piece of stainless steel.

Q: Do the mounting screws come with it? What diameter and length are the screws?

Yes they are included. They are number 6 screws and they are 3/8" long.

Q: Can it be installed on 5/16 thick plexi window?

Yes but you may need to use longer screws than what comes with it.
