Overview

Note: Plane-Power alternator only products do not include the required mounting hardware. First time installers must purchase Plane-Power alternator kit.

An alternative to high-priced, marginally-performing, rebuilt used replacement aircraft alternators.

Plane-Power alternators are the product of years of research, development and intensive testing. Each component has been engineered, developed, tested and re-tested exclusively for use in general aviation aircraft. As a result of these efforts, Plane Power alternators offer significant improvements over legacy aircraft alternator offerings including:
    • Generate substantially higher power at lower engine RPMs
    • Generate significantly less heat while producing rated power
    • Generate rated power at typical aircraft cruise RPMS
    • Vastly improved balancing drastically reduces bracket failure
    • Greater reliability for significantly increased service life
    • Weigh up to four pounds less
Plane-Power alternators are FAA PMA certified to replace the vast majority of popular general aviation alternators. Plane-Power also manufactures an alternator kit for experimental aircraft applications that comes complete with required brackets, spacers, internal cooling, voltage regulation (choice of internal or external), and over-voltage protection. Plane-Power alternators are warrantied for 2-years against component failures.

Core Return Policy

Any unit being returned for core or warranty core credit shall be, as removed from the engine, complete and not disassembled. No core or warranty core credit will be allowed for automotive units. Units that are rusty or cannot be overhauled for any reason will be classified as scrap, having no value. Units which have been weld repaired, as well as units which have been disassembled and then reassembled with old parts, will also be classified as scrap, having no value. A percentage of the core value will be charged for all missing or damaged parts. At no time will the damaged or missing parts charge on any unit exceed the core value of that unit.

1. Core will only be accepted for credit 12 months from date of invoice.
2. Cores returned in excess of cores invoiced will not be accepted.
3. Cores must be of like purchase, a directly superseded unit or replaced unit when installing an STC'd product.
4. Competitive product cores are acceptable returns.
5. Cores must have a legible data tag for part and serial number verification.

Note: Customer will need to provide core for overhaul in the event our supplier does not have cores available to overhaul.

I maintain 8 planes and put Plane Power altinators in them. Very pleased with the results. One word of caution, one failed and I discovered that someone else had tightened the belt too much. This caused the bearing to fail. These altinators have only one front bearing and cant take a very tight belt. P.S. I was in the United Arib Emeritus, on a round the world flight and Aircraft Spruce got me a new altinator in two days. Unbelievable

Hartzell/Plane Power alternators are top notch. However, be careful: I replaced mine with this unit (Cardinal 177RG) and found that the pulley on the new alternator did not have enough forward extension to provide proper belt alignment. I had to obtain a different pulley that was appropriate for my installation. Hartzell Tech Support was VERY HELPFUL, but it still set me back several days. If in doubt, talk to Hartzell before ordering.

Despite the photo showing all the spacers, bolts, nuts and washers, this Alternator Only does not come with the 12 pieces of hardware as shown. The order desk told me this. Hey Marketing Dept...please take note.

Q: Do the Plane Power alternators have built-in regulators or do they require and external one?

For example, the 10-1050 (07-17755) alternator is externally regulated. You can use the P/P R1224 or R1224B regulators, both of which are 12 or 24 volt depending on how you have them configured.

Q: Do these Plane Power alternators come with a built in noise filter?

No. This alternator does have a built in noise filter.

Q: Is the pulley included with Plane Power alternator part # 07-17756, as in photo?

Yes, it is.

Q: Is the Plane Power alternator 99-1012 internally regulated??

No these require a regulator.
