What can I say, it is rib stitching cord. Lays flat and works well. You learn to hate it after stitching a couple of wings as well as which fingers to tape up.
Poly-Fiber Rib Lace Braided Flat 500 Yd
Way too expensive and too large of a spool. 500 yds is more than a life time supply. 50 to 100 yds would be more than ample to do a set of tail feathers. Several size options would be less wasteful and easier to fit into the budget for a less than affluent home builder.

Part number 09-03810 is approximately .012" thick and .080" wide.
The rib lacing cord is waxed.
They are both 1/32".
Usually the glue joint, over the ribs and the seam that is sewed does not need to see direct heat from the iron. Also, all these areas are going to be overlaid with finishing tape as well.
Both styles are waxed.
This is only available in white.
