MALE 8-32 THREAD | 05-01235 |
This engine baffle fastener kit makes attaching baffle material much easier. 8-32 Threads |
Used this on Cessna 172 for the dash nuts, worked great.
Should be Phillips head. Easier to grab on backside
The sleeve portion of the female side is too long, almost 3/16, so it wont clamp at all onto the baffle seal material through an aluminum baffle piece. Also because they are aluminum, once you tighten it once, it disturbs the threads at the end, and it is difficult to get the threads to start on a second assembly without chasing the thread with a tap. I sanded the sleeve portion down to 1/8 long and then they worked very well.
I was not impressed with this fastener system. I had to use washers in order to get the fastener to crimp down on the silicon baffle material. I ended up using machine screws and nyloc nuts for a much cleaner and functional result.
I was told that the head of the female fastener had a solid head. This is not correct. The head is drilled all the way thru. For my application I required a solid head.
Neat concept / poorly executed / material too soft / very poor thread quality. Chucked them, went back to pop rivets for engine baffling.

Yes, they are both 1/8" NPT. We have added the kit component breakdown to the "Kit Contents" tab of this web page.

That is correct.
