Part# 09-02002
MFR Model# VPCI-326

Overview

An approved Lycoming engine oil additive for prevention of oxidation of all metals.

Designed for use in engine oil at 1:10 concentration, VpCI™ (Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitors) will protect your engine from corrosion (in solution and in all void spaces) for up to 3 years during storage.

This corrosion inhibitor oil additive for hydraulic oil and gearbox assemblies, performs effectively under the adverse conditions of 100% relative humidity, and in the presence of such corrosive species as chlorides, sulfur compounds or hydrogen sulfide. Contains no hazardous chromates, nitrites or phosphate inhibitors and utilizes the finest paraffinic petroleum distillates as carriers.

VpCI-326™ possesses an exceedingly high flash point, enhancing in-plant safety when compared to common oil protectants and  is supplied in concentrate form, which is easily diluted with lubricating, hydraulic or preservative oils, saving shipping and inventory expense.

A broad range corrosion inhibitor is not only effective on ferrous metals, but also effective on zinc, aluminum, galvanized steel, copper, cadmium, silver, brass and many other alloys.

Features

  • VpCI™-326 provides universal corrosion protection to ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • VpCI™-326 is nitrite-free, non-toxic and thermally stable, providing long-lasting contact and vapor phase corrosion protection

Reviews

I bought Aeroshel 2XN and Cortec VPCI326 for off-season storage. I prefer Cortec. The science is fascinating and it works in my low-tech hangar testing. I’m pleased that Spruce makes it available in useful size bottles.

This product came in unofficial packaging. I called to confirm that its the correct product, and Spruce said that they receive it in 5gal containers and re-package for us to buy in smaller quantities. So, to all those who wonder about the strange packaging, I think we can rest assured that the product is what they claim. Beyond that, its just 5 stars because I got the correct amount of what I ordered.

Works great even in high humidity coastal Florida. We use it on every engine that we ship.

I depend on this preservative over the long cold winter in upstate New York.

I found the product to work exactly as it was advertised. The picture was the same product I received (unlike George from a previous comment) Very happy with the results and will continue to purchase the product to use in my Lycoming engine when I store my airplane over the winter months

My experience is the same as Georges as far as the packaging. Cannot speak to its efficacy. Would be hard to evaluate anyway. It is kind of a product that you just have to buy and use on faith alone unless you are in some kind of a lab situation. I am not. I am a field user.

Truth in advertising applies here. The product is not shipped in a bottle of the same shape and does not have the same label as shown. In fact the label is a photocopy of something printed somewhere else and taped mid-span, not pasted on, to the bottle, and therefore has the potential to tear off during handling. Also the product name is missing from the top of the label! One has to look down into the ratio discussion to find out what the product is that is inside the bottle. I will have to write near the top (not covered by the plastic tape) to the unsecured paper so that any leftover product is identified in the future. I assume that what is inside the bottle is what I paid for. Is it? I think you really need to talk to your vendor about this labeling of a potential hazardous (to humans) product.

Q: You state that this product designation VPCI-326 is specified in Lycoming Service Letter L180B for use in engine preservation however, that service bulletin refers to VCI-326 not VPCI-326. What is the difference? Thanks.

There is no difference between the two as VPCI is stating that it is a Cortec manufactured product.

Q: What is the bottle volume? One quart? One pint? On litre?

32 oz bottle.

Q: Will the VpCI-326 be considered hazardous for international shipment?

Yes, this is considered hazardous for air shipping.
