I have been using the cascophen (resorcinol) glue for years and have always been pleased. I have never had a failure. The “water cleanup” is very convenient. I have also found that with proper storage the one year “use by” date is a very very conservative recommendation.
The shipping, delivery, and price of the 1-qt order were excellent. The product is as anticipated.
I havent used it yet. But I did like the expedient service
I am building a new set of hatches for my classic boat. I was looking for resourcinal to glue up some teak lumber. I removed the pieces from the clamps this morning. It is solid as a rock. I also glued up some test scraps. I used pliers to try to break the bond - the wood broke first. I will update this with a 5 star review after I see how the product performs over time, but Im very happy with the initial results. The package didnt include the mixing instructions, but they were easy to find and download on the Aircraft Spruce site.
To be completely honest, Im a little bit unhappy. The Resorcinol glue I received has an expiration date on the resin of 8/31/2020, which will come up pretty quickly. I understand it will probably be good for awhile after that, but I use it to make bamboo fly rods, and given the amount of time spent on them prior to glue-up, it makes me a bit nervous to use expired glue. Ive purchased from you in the past and have always been happy. In the future, Id appreciate glue with a longer shelf life at the time of purchase.
I believe the product will work as I expect it to. It would have been helpful if I would have gotten the ratio of liquid to powder. Either by weight or by volume. I have not used the product yet just made some sample splices and it seems to hold.
I did a curb side pickup for this glue which was great. How ever when I got home I discovered that the gluten had expired. I contacted aircraft spruce and was told that they would happily replace the glue. But with Covid slowing things down that it would be some indefinite time before the replacement would come in. I decided that i could not wait and i cancelled the order, that was a couple of weeks ago and i still have not seen a refund. Customer service was really helpful, the accounting refund seems really slow

Some typically make larger batches and mix with a paddle or paint mixer on a 1/2 drill. For smaller batches they could just use a spoon or stick of some sort. It would be advised adding the powder to the mixing bucket prior to the liquid as this will reduce the likelihood of the powder getting airborn.
