It doesnt fit the older Lycoming O-360-A1A engines as there is inadequate clearance to the engine mount. Listed as a fit by Spruce and Tempest but the pump is too long.

Difficult to install in IO360 with constant speed prop. access to right hand bolt limited. Also, need to put heavy grease on actuating rod in accessory case to allow it to remain up for proper install. Bolts dont fit easily into case and case interferes with access for proper alignment.

Not the fault of the pump, but installation is a little tricky. If you feel any resistance while tightening the screws - Stop! - the plunger is not aligned correctly with the arm. Best to hold the pump in place while inserting the mounting screws. Tricky to do with limited working space. Worked perfectly once installed.

Finally got the pump installed had to pull the mag which really made it easy to install the pump. Tight working spaces on an RV7 had to cut an Allen wrench to fit between the pump and prop control mounting.
Works as advertised 30 psi
Thanks for including the gasket and “O” rings putting the safety wire back was a little time consuming

A quality fuel pump that is working like it should. I was hesitant to change this on my homebuilt after reading several horror stories on a popular forum. If you follow the instructions that came with the fuel pump......it is a straight forward procedure that can be accomplished easily. You do not need heavy grease, or a piece of string to hold up the push rod........just follow the instructions!

It works like it should. My old pump failed letting fuel into the oil. Reading on the web these pumps should be replaced every 10 years!
It was exceedingly difficult to install with the tight firewall clearance in my homebuilt. I had to use spray gasket sealer to hold the gasket in place. With the crank turned to the higher plunger position the plunger pin would not stay up with grease but after I finished I read that someone did that with wire lacing cord. The allen wrench interferes with the sides of the pump so you cannot feel when tightening if the plunger is up or keep it up. I had to grind down the sides of allen wrench to make it possible to feel if it was staying in place plunger up.

Note that the Tempest pump, AF15473, *does* come with a gasket. You do not need to order a gasket separately for that pump.

Aircraft Spruce shipped this right away. five starts to them. This fuel pump is NOT the exact same size as the Lycoming fuel pump, so you may ned to modify your shroud. Everything else seems first rate, thats why 4 stars.

Product works as advertised. However, the body of the pump was different than the previous fuel pump and hampered the installation process. It was a very tricky process to install in tight spaces.

Be very careful with the hose fittings, especially the small fuel vent one. I tried using my previous 3AN fitting and broke the housing due to bad treads on my fitting. My fault but pump useless so I had to order another one. This time with a new fitting it was fine.

This is the second pump I had to purchase for my customer, we put the first one on, an overhauled unit, it lasted less than 1 hour. Im still waiting for confirmation from Carolyn to receive warranty reimbursement for it.

One of the problems with this fuel pump is its difficult or impossible to use the original bolts. The housing interferes with the installation of the bolts because of the length of the bolt and the diagram housing bulge. Better installation instructions would possibly be helpful.

The pump works, but does not fit a 1967 Piper Cherokee well. Extensive modifications to the cooling shroud are required. The hose fittings are clocked in the correct position, but are an inch lower. The neck of this pump where it attaches to the block is a lot wider then the original. The shroud has to be modified there also. The allen headed bolts need some modifying also, to get a straight shot at the the threads on the block. I would get my original rebuilt and skip the changes to the shroud as this would save money on the aps install charge.

This new fuel pump was installed and there still was no fuel pressure so a couple more hours of troubleshooting was done to find the cause only to finally come back to indicate the new pump was defective. I thought by buying a new pump instead of a rebuilt one would ensure a higher quality. Nope. I would have been money ahead had I bought the Champion brand and not had to pay for the extra troubleshooting time.
